Three Penguins, One Sofa, Endless Dreams

This sculpture began life as an illustration in a children's book I wrote and illustrated several years ago.

The story followed a young penguin who dreamed of leaving his home in Antarctica to discover the rest of the world. One of the illustrations showed him curled up on a sofa, wrapped in a blanket and wearing his favourite scarf. For some reason, that image stayed with people. There was something about its colours, its tiny details, and the quiet sense of wonder it captured.

I always knew one day I would bring it to life in clay.

So here he is.

A little traveller at heart, dreaming from the comfort of his sofa alongside his brothers. They imagined distant places where the ground wasn't covered in ice but in soft green grass and bright yellow dandelions.

One day, while daydreaming on that very sofa, he came up with an extraordinary idea. He stitched together every winter garment he owned to make a hot-air balloon. And, against all odds, it lifted him into the sky and carried him towards those faraway lands where the sun felt warm on your face.

This penguin is a poet without knowing it. 

Every piece is individually sculpted, painted and glazed by hand, making each sculpture subtly unique. Small variations in shape and brushwork are not imperfections but the unmistakable signature of genuine craftsmanship.
