Polar Bear Reading to Cub
Some stories are too good to read alone.
€220.00
The first time I ever saw a bear in the wild was in Canada.
I was riding on horseback through a forest in northern British Columbia when I spotted one on the far shore of a lake. She wasn't alone. A cub was sitting opposite her.
From that distance, it looked as though they were having a conversation. Perhaps she was teaching her cub one of life's essential lessons. Bears teach their young how to hunt, which berries are safe to eat, and how to recognize danger. We do much the same—sometimes simply by reading them a bedtime story.
There was something so deeply human about the scene that I've had a soft spot for bears ever since.
This sculpture is my tribute to them—and to the quiet, universal bond between a mother and her child.
This particular piece is a polar interpretation of that unforgettable moment I witnessed in the Canadian wilderness.
Each sculpture is individually shaped, hand-painted and glazed in my studio, making every piece truly one of a kind.
